SUITS partners are conducting a study to understand challenges and opportunities brought by digitalisation, the Internet-of-Things, and big data and implications on data privacy and security. The aim is to help the public sector understand its cyber security and data protection needs, share experiences in outsourcing decisions and identify common problems, open questions and best practices.

The study focuses on:

  • Awareness of security and privacy in public transport by local and regional authorities;
  • Assessing how security and privacy are addressed and prioritised in the context of public transport systems by local and regional authorities;
  • Strategies adopted by municipalities and local governments to comply with EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Network and Information Security Directive (NISD);
  • Capability needs around delivering on security, privacy and regulatory compliance.

WHO SHOULD TAKE PART?

We welcome interest from public officials of municipalities and local governments working in or related to public transport domain, including serving in roles of information security or data protection officers; with direct or team responsibility for security, privacy, or data protection; with direct or team responsibility for compliance with GDPR or NISD; involved in innovation or change management, or policy or strategy around digitalisation; or interested to contributing to this debate on technology and policy grounds.

WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS?

You will be interviewed (over phone or Skype) by a member of the SUITS team until 10th October 2018. The results of the study will be published on the SUITS webpage by the end October 2018.
